WELCOME TO GRASSY PLAINS SCHOOL

 

Grassy Plains School (School District 91, Nechako Lakes) serves a large geographic area south of Francois Lake, referred to as the Southside.  A twenty minute free ferry ride provides our access to the Northside and the services and businesses available in Burns Lake.  

 

Our school enrolls approximately 80 students from grades K through 12 in five homeroom divisions. We serve three First Nations bands; Cheslatta Carrier Nation, Nee Tahi Buhn Band and Skin Tyee Nation. 

 

The Grassy Plains School staff consists of 5 teachers and a teaching principal as well as three learning support workers, an aboriginal education support worker, an administrative assistant and two custodians.  Two bus drivers provide transportation for students attending Grassy Plains School.

 

Our school features a gymnasium with a stage and a climbing wall, two playground areas and a large field area. We also have access to a network of ski trails right behind the school and cross country ski equipment for our students' use. Our classrooms include a Home Economics room, a school library,  and a computer lab as well as a shop area for art and applied skills.

 

 

The purpose of Grassy Plains School is to enable learners to develop their individual potential as lifelong learners and to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to become responsible citizens in a democratic society.
